Step Up Your Skincare Routine

If you’re like most guys, skin care doesn’t really rank high on your list of important things.

Your morning routine is centered around hitting the snooze button and fueling with coffee. You might even think skin care is feminine; something guys don’t really need to worry about. As we age, guys tend to wear their scars and wrinkles with a badge of pride. If that’s your thing, that’s cool.

But like everything else on your body, skin is a living part of you that needs to be cared for. Maintaining healthy skin isn’t a vanity move. Think of it as a necessary part of your health-a process that’ll make you look and feel good.

Cleanse Twice A Day

For all the rugged guys out there who think a splash of cold water counts as washing your face, think again. While you sleep, dead skin cells and dust mites gather on your skin. And believe it or not, dirt and bacteria can lurk in your sheets and on your pillows. Washing with a gentle cleanser in the morning helps scrub away all of the unnatural build up that shouldn’t be there. It’ll help your skin look fresh and prevent irritation and acne. Wash again at night before you hit the hay so you can wash away the perspiration and grime from the outside world.

Exfoliate

There’s good and bad news. The bad news is that exfoliation is an extra step that goes beyond a simple wash. The good news is that you don’t have to do it often. Once or twice a week is just enough. Exfoliating your skin is a deep clean that helps stimulate healthy skin cell growth while reducing the appearance of aging. Invest in a gentle exfoliation scrub, but use it sparingly and don’t scrub too hard. Exfoliation can leave your skin dry and irritated if you overdo it.
